Sara Weinberg

Educator in Residence

Sara Weinberg

Sara Weinberg’s greatest joy as an educator is helping students build both confidence and a deeper understanding of mathematics as learners. She is an experienced math teacher who has served in Chicago Public Schools, New York City Public Schools, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

In 2014, Sara began her work with The Algebra Project and later the Young People’s Project, teaching at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, where she followed a cohort of students through graduation. During this time, she and her students had the unique opportunity to learn directly from Bob Moses through frequent classroom visits and student-driven workshops, supported by FIU’s The Education Effect.

Although no longer in the classroom full-time, Sara continues to advance the fight for quality math education for all students. She collaborates with the Bob Moses Research Center and the Young People’s Project, and she consults with The Algebra Project on their National Math Literacy Campaign. Drawing on all she has learned through these collaborations, Sara supports student learning and teacher development both in and beyond schools.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree in Urban Education from Florida International University.
