The Bob Moses Research Center for Math Literacy through Public Education at Florida International University is proud to welcome three outstanding scholars as affiliated faculty members: Dr. David A. Delaine, Dr. Courtney Rose, and Dr. Anindya Kundu. These appointments represent a significant step forward in the Center’s mission to deepen its research capacity and strengthen its community-grounded approach to transforming math education.
Each faculty member brings a unique perspective that aligns with the values and work of the Moses Center. Dr. Delaine, an Associate Professor in FIU’s School of Universal Computing, Construction & Engineering Education, is known nationally for his research on university-community partnerships that are rooted in trust and reciprocity. His work offers a blueprint for how institutions can serve—not steer—grassroots change.
Dr. Rose, an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Urban Education program in FIU’s School of Education and Human Development, is a curriculum designer, learning architect, and author of Woven Together: How Unpacking Your Teacher Identity Creates a Stronger Learning Community. She helps educators center student identity and build responsive, affirming learning environments that reflect students’ lived experiences and potential.
Dr. Kundu, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at FIU, is a public scholar and sociologist whose research focuses on student agency. He is the author of The Power of Student Agency, and his work offers a vital lens into how young people navigate educational barriers and lead transformative change from within.
“We are honored to welcome Drs. Delaine, Kundu, and Rose to the Moses Center as affiliated faculty. Each of them brings a distinctive scholarly voice and deep commitment to the work. Their expertise strengthens our collective vision of math literacy as a civil right and expands the possibilities for research, practice, and community-based transformation,” said Dr. Brian Williams, Executive Director of the Bob Moses Research Center.
This growing network of affiliated faculty reflects the Center’s commitment to building powerful partnerships—across disciplines, institutions, and communities—to advance a future where every student is equipped to lead, learn, and thrive through mathematics.
